NEWARK — The State Board of Chiropractic Examiners has revoked the license of Scott J. Schemanski, D.C., of Cherry Hill and levied a $150,000 civil penalty against him after proving to an Administrative Law Judge that Schemanski treated patients while unlicensed and provided negligent care, Attorney General Peter C. Harvey and Consumer Affairs Director Reni Erdos announced.
Schemanski, who formerly maintained offices in Pennsauken and Cherry Hill, was found to have:
"This chiropractor repeatedly broke the law and violated accepted medical standards, putting his profits ahead of the health and welfare of his patients," said Attorney General Harvey. "We acted to prevent patients from being harmed."
"Time after time, even when issued a subpoena, Schemanski failed to produce the requested patient records," Director Erdos noted. "He demonstrated a disregard for both his patients and the law. The Board has acted to protect the public and to hold its licensees accountable."
Schemanski also was ordered to pay $66,450 in attorneys’ fees and $38,164 in costs. Deputy Attorney General Joan D. Gelber represented the State in this matter.
